Everyone loves the first kiss—it’s a classic, joyful wedding moment that you just can’t miss. But there’s a moment I love even more as a wedding photographer. Just seconds after the first kiss, the bride and groom look at one another with awe and delight in their faces—”We did it! We got married! For real!” I love to see the realization as their eyes open a little wider and they smile so wide from sheer happiness. It’s a moment I always aim to capture as the bride and groom run back up the aisle to the cheers of their guests.
Sometimes it’s a quieter realization—they hold each other and soak it in. Thankful, relieved, but still oh–so–happy!
