Oh, yum! Organizing this blog post quite literally made my mouth water! After a day of wedding photography, which often involves serious gymnastics and some cardio for good measure, I’m not ashamed to admit I indulge in a piece (sometimes two—shhhhh!) of wedding cake. Or cupcake. Or pie. I’m an equal opportunity dessert enthusiast.
A big trend I saw this year was unfrosted cakes. This cake is decorated with beautiful fruits, berries, and white flowers.
And to perfectly suite the country theme? Gorgeous homemade pies! The strawberries practically glowed in the late afternoon light.
This next cake is one of my favorites from the year—perched on wood rounds and subtly decorated with edible blossoms and leaves.
I love to watch the interaction between the Bride and Groom while they cut their cake. Some are sweet and considerate:
Another of my favorites: The cake itself is simple, with several tiers and a classic shape. But the rich colors of the flowers really make it shine, complementing the beautiful lakeshore setting with soft blues and saturated pink.
You can’t go wrong with a classic! These cheesecakes were delightful—perfect crumbly crust and rich, creamy custard.
Finally, this couple thought way outside the box! Their caramel-apple dessert bar was perfect for a relaxed fall celebration. The little guests especially enjoyed dipping and swirling their apples, and choosing from a variety of tasty toppings to sprinkle on.
