Whidbey Island is the embodiment of all the best parts of the Pacific Northwest—wild and rugged terrain, breathtaking landscapes at every turn, and charming coastal towns. It’s exactly what you think of when you picture Washington State, which is why it makes such a perfect destination for couples seeking a quintessential PNW celebration! I’ve gathered a group of 7 beautiful Whidbey Island wedding venues that I know would help you bring your dream day to life, whether your ideal locale looks like a family-owned farm, a lush garden, or a cozy inn that feels like home. I can’t wait to see which one you choose, and would love to provide my support as a Whidbey Island wedding photographer!
Why Get Married on Whidbey Island?
If you’re already familiar with Whidbey Island and all it has to offer, feel free to skip right over this section—but if you don’t know and love Whidbey quite yet, then allow me to introduce you.
Located about 30 miles north of Seattle, between I-5 and the Olympic Peninsula, Whidbey Island forms the northern boundary of Washington’s iconic Puget Sound. It’s a super easy trip from Seattle via the Whidbey Island Ferry that leaves from Mukilteo, or you can simply drive across Deception Pass Bridge right onto the island. The ease and speed of this trip makes Whidbey a highly desirable place to get married, as it sort of feels like a remote, far-away island destination—but in reality, it’s super close to Seattle and the surrounding cities.
Whidbey is known for a lot of things, but I’d say it’s most famous for its picturesque terrain and wide variety of outdoor recreation. You know us Washingtonians love our outdoor adventures and beautiful landscapes! It’s not a warm, tropical island like one you’d find in Hawaii, or off the coast of California, obviously, but it offers its own unique type of island magic: what you’ll find instead is a rugged coastal atmosphere filled with rocky beaches, vast farmland, rolling hills, and vibrant blue waters. The tranquil landscapes and abundance of outdoor adventures, including hiking, biking, kayaking, and sailing, offer quite an enchanting environment to get married in. Whidbey truly has something for everyone, whether you’re big into adventuring or would prefer to kick back & relax at a cozy hotel, find rejuvenation at a spa, or grab a book and lounge on a beach chair.

How to Pick the Perfect Whidbey Island Wedding Venue
Before I pass on the list of my favorite wedding venues on Whidbey Island, I wanted to share a few tips to help you choose the right venue for you—because trust me, there are PLENTY, and your only problem from now on will be narrowing it down to just one.
1. Envision your dream backdrop
I know it can be tempting to go straight to calculating the numbers, figuring out your budget, and scouring through thousands of venue options on Google. But what I’d really encourage you to do before any of that, is spend some time simply dreaming up your ideal wedding backdrop. Allow yourselves some time to get creative, to go wild, to think about the most incredible venue possible (money aside) and what that would look + feel like.
Would it be in the middle of a lush forest, where you can exchange your vows surrounded by towering trees and the quiet of the woods? Maybe you can more easily picture yourselves tying the knot on a beach, with the sounds of seagulls chirping above you and the waves crashing just feet away on the shore. What about a more rustic vibe on a locally-owned farm, where you can enjoy farm-to-table catering and the vastness of wide-open fields?
If you can give yourselves time to dream before getting down to the practical stuff, it’ll be much easier to select a venue that fits your vision—not just the numbers and logistics.
When the time comes to dig into those numbers, feel free to read about my Whidbey Island wedding photography packages here.
2. Indoor, outdoor, or both?
You may have already completed this step when imagining what your ideal venue would look like: decide if you’d like a venue that offers indoor or outdoor spaces. Or both!
Does your perfect ceremony happen indoors, followed by a reception under the starlight? Filter your venue search by places that have both indoor and outdoor options.
Are you getting married in the winter, when temperatures will likely make it hard to stay outside for very long? Start searching for an indoor venue that suits your vision, and will help you curate the atmosphere you’re longing for.
In general, it’s a good idea to find a venue with at least one indoor option even if you want the majority of your day to take place outside. You simply never know what the PNW will bring, and having a backup option in case of rain/bad weather will ensure you have a beautiful place to celebrate no matter what.
3. Ask your photographer for guidance
If you’ve already hired your Whidbey Island wedding photographer, take advantage of their expertise and ask them for help finding the right venue for you! I’ve worked at plenty of venues around Whidbey and am always happy to use my firsthand experience & knowledge to point you in the right direction. Cascadia Meadows
Venue owners Emily and Paul Grubb love helping each and every couple plan and create their dream wedding day just as passionately as if it were their own. Together, they’ve built up Cascadia Meadows into a premier Whidbey Island wedding venue full of gorgeous Pacific Northwest-inspired elements, from a quaint cottage to a vibrant meadow encased by towering cedars. The venue is nestled on the edge of Whidbey Island, overlooking the water with distant views of the Olympic Mountains, which are simply stunning at sunset. You’ll have access to three expansive acres surrounded by 30 acres of protected nature reserve, bringing you the essence of the PNW at every corner.
The main venue at Cascadia Meadows is the Little Brown Church, originally built in 1908 and offering a place of beauty and history. It was completely renovated in a mid-century modern style later on in 1964, maintaining a sense of cozy, rustic charm as well as a slightly more contemporary feel. The warm and welcoming sanctuary offers seating for up to 120 guests in wooden bench pews, as well as the choir loft.
In addition to the main church, they also offer various venues on their property to hold ceremonies and receptions, depending on the type of atmosphere you’re looking for:
The Meadow
While this peaceful grassy meadow is home to deer and other wildlife, this venue is all yours for your Whidbey Island Wedding. Framed by beautiful red cedar arbors, this beautiful space will greet your guests with 200-foot tall trees, native plants, and raw cedar beams surrounding the area.
The Gardens
Lush and verdant gardens produce thousands of flowers in various colors. Dahlia plants and sunflowers make this garden a gorgeous and natural photo backdrop.
The Parson’s Cottage
Built in 1954, it is equipped with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. This serves as a luxury add-on for a 2-night stay. This old home has been restored to keep its charm but is accommodating. Hardwood floors, a 2010 kitchen remodel, a gas fireplace, and air conditioning will make you feel comfortable, cozy, and rested.
Meeting Hall
More than just a ceremony space with bathrooms and a kitchen. The sanctuary and meeting hall both have projectors that can be easily hooked up to your laptop and crisp sound systems with microphones.
Included in your Cascadia Meadows wedding packages are the following amenities and services:
- Exclusive property access
- Rehearsal dinner

Wayfarer Farm
If you loved the vibe of Crockett Farm but are planning for a smaller, more intimate guest list, Wayfarer Farm is another venue owned by Whidbey Island Weddings that might just be the perfect fit. Located in the historic Bayview area, the 100-year-old Wayfarer Farm boasts a variety of thoughtfully-designed ceremony and reception sites for you to choose from, with space to accommodate up to 200 guests. With stunning open, rolling grounds, an orchard, and multiple barns, these 5 acres provide a gorgeous natural setting for you and your guests to explore under the island sun (or clouds—who knows what the PNW will bring). I love the way they’ve designed their barns to provide completely different atmospheres: one is whitewashed and bright for an elegant ceremony or reception, and the other is complete with an exposed beam ceiling, an antique bar, and indoor/outdoor space for a more rustic feel.
