Stylish Downtown Seattle Portrait Session

I love when I get a chance to capture Seattle engagement photos! Every time I have the chance to visit Seattle, I’m always itching to capture the city with my camera. Since my recent January trip itinerary was somewhat altered by a snowstorm, I had a little more time in the city than I had originally planned! And I’m so glad it worked out that way. Kelly and Jesse were able to meet up with me on very short notice for a relaxed urban portrait session. And oh my goodness did Kelly bring the style! Her canary yellow coat was the perfect sunny note to contrast beautifully with the muted tones of the city background. The day was overcast with hints of golden January sunlight occasionally peaking through the clouds, so it was perfect for walking around town and capturing some amazing photos to celebrate Kelly & Jesse’s recent engagement!

There are endless options for places to take photos! If you love the iconic side of Seattle, you can visit the waterfront and Pike Place Market. I love the little cafes and bistros that are tucked here and there along the city streets. During Kelly and Jesse’s session, we found one where the awnings, trim, and rattan chairs were all decked out in the loveliest shade of emerald! I thought it would be a perfect contrast to the bright gold of Kelly’s chic coat.

Later on, we rode an elevator up to the top floor of a parking garage in search of the perfect cityscape background. Admittedly, it’s a bit of a change from my usual wild and natural PNW backgrounds! I loved getting the chance to use the architecture of the city as a “landscape” backdrop for a Seattle Engagement Session. The geometry and texture of the glass and concrete were a great compliment to Kelly and Jesse’s chic outfits. I was definitely getting Charlize Theron vibes from Kelly’s incredible cheekbones and blonde bob!

What I loved most about Jesse and Kelly’s session was getting to chat with them about their recent transplant to Seattle from the East Coast. I love this quirky city so much! I’ll always jump at the chance to talk about its eccentricities, culture, and amazing food with people who are new to the area.
