Sequim Engagement Session in the Spring | Kelsey & Josh

Sequim Engagement Photo

As a Washington engagement and wedding photographer, I love any chance to capture the incredible natural beauty of the North Olympic Peninsula. A Sequim engagement session is an ideal way to capture both the seasonal beauty of the landscape and the joyful emotions of your engagement. Each season brings renewed vibrance to the landscape, and spring is no exception. The bright greens of new growth and grass, the scattering of wildflowers in the meadows, the baited-breath anticipation of summer on the Sequim Dungeness.

This lovely couple joined me for a relaxed engagement session on a gorgeous spring morning in May. Kelsey wore a romantic maxi dress with a white bodice and flowing blush-pink skirt. Josh’s crisp white collared shirt and black pants provided a sharp and masculine outfit to compliment Kelsey’s more feminine gown. We walked through the meadows and explored a few little trails around the Voice of America Park at the Sequim Dungeness Spit to capture a variety of locations and scenery. Spring days on the Olympic Peninsula are usually crisp and sometimes cool, but on this day the gorgeous sunshine was wonderfully warm!

For Kelsey & Josh’s Sequim engagement session, I wanted to really celebrate the beauty of the Olympic Peninsula spring. I created a bouquet of native flowers from  trees and shrubs, as well as a few lovely specimens from Central Market in Poulsbo. Dahlias, ruffly tulips, and anemonies played nicely with ornamental hellebore, flowering viburnum. I included native white rhododendron, salal, and something I just learned is called service berry — those delicate white-flowered branches that peek out of the understory of the forest this time of year.
