A few weeks ago I was able to participate in a photography workshop put on by Zach and Jody Gray, two amazing wedding photographers who also somehow manage to find the time to travel around the country teaching. Even though the workshop was only one (long!) day, I feel like I came away with a weeks worth of information! The techniques I learned were often simple, yet so effective I won’t be able to go back to shooting the way I did before. I thought I had a pretty good grasp on exposure– I shoot in manual and know my way around a histogram : ) — but I was amazed how Zach and Jody took the guesswork and trial-and-error process out of getting the right exposure in camera quickly.
The real freedom comes in having to spend less time adjusting the camera and more time thinking about the image that is being created– then seeing that image come to life without extensive adjustments and Photoshop.
