Woodinville Lavender Wedding |Jessica & Will

Spring in Seattle is often moody, prone to cool misty days and fitful sunbreaks as the days get increasingly lighter. Jessica and Will’s Woodinville Lavender wedding day was marked by pearlescent gray clouds, rain that fell in a sparkling mist, the effervescent joy of two people who’ve each found the one whom their soul loves, and waves of affection from family and dear friends that rolled over and subsumed anyone who happened to be present that day.

I had been looking forward to Jessica and Will’s relaxed spring Woodinville Lavender wedding since the moment I met Jessica in Starbucks at Greenlake over a year prior. I’ve loved working with the two of them and documenting their beautiful connection to one another. Jessica and Will have the sweetest dynamic with each other, always solicitous of one another, stars in their eyes, so obviously enamored and enraptured with each other.

They met in a most modern way — on a dating site a year before Jessica started medical school at the University of Washington. She’s since graduated and moved into residency as an OB/GYN with a deep passion for women’s health. Jessica & Will’s relationship grew under the pressure-cooker stress of medical school, supporting one another through challenges. In each other, they each found a true partner to walk beside and share in difficulties and triumphs.

Sometimes I can’t believe how fortunate I’ve been to work with such incredible, warm, fascinating people. Jessica and Will are two such souls. The celebration of their marriage was so suffused with love and emotion. Every person there was so obviously filled with joy that these two had found each other. The weather was cool and misty, as June in the Northwest is prone to be. The sun peeked through the clouds here and there, and a light scattering of raindrops fell on and off throughout the day. The light was pearlescent, gleaming off dew on the grass and budding lavender, gray and white and the emerald green of grass and foliage. I love Woodinville Lavender for relaxed, yet elegant Pacific Northwest weddings – it’s the perfect natural outdoor setting that is refined enough to serve as a venue for hosting a gathering while providing just the right amount of amenities to make the day effortless.

After hair and makeup by Urbanista Salon, Jessica finished getting ready in the sweet little bridal cottage on the Woodinville Lavender property. In early June, the loveliest pale pink rose that clambers over the little red door is in perfect bloom. Will and Jessica shared a secluded first look at the edge of the lavender fields to ensure they had a few moments alone together before the rest of the wedding day kicked into high gear. Logan and Sarah of LCM Events worked absolute magic on the stunning tablescapes under the reception tent at Woodinville Lavender. Coffee and brunch from Twelve Baskets Catering kept the guests warm and fed. Jessica and Will’s ceremony was officiated by their dear friend Stephanie, whose own wedding I had photographed less than a month earlier! She had some sage advice to pass on to the couple, as her own marriage experience outstripped theirs by about three whole weeks. Listening to the bridal party and members of Jessica and Will’s family toasting the new couple at their reception was deeply touching. The bride and groom were surrounded by people who truly love them, because it is so evident Jessica and Will pour out themselves for their friends. The joy felt for them was palpable throughout the day! I love few things more than seeing a wedding coming together to truly reflect the values and desires of each bride and groom. I believe it would be accurate to say that Jessica and Will wanted a wedding that was relaxed, yet each guest felt included and appreciated.

From the Bride:

“…we met on the dating site OKCupid about a year before I began medical school [at the University of Washington]. Thankfully we had that year to fall madly in love before I was practically consumed by the work and stress of med school. The majority of our relationship has been defined by supporting each other through challenges and difficulties, and sharing in each other’s accomplishments. We are each other’s rocks, confidants, best friends, and can make each other laugh when no one else can.”
