Franklin Falls Adventure Engagement Session – Lauren & Gavin

I love when my job as a Seattle engagement photographer allows me to 1) meet amazing people and hang out with them, and 2) trek to interesting and amazing places! This engagement session at Franklin Falls, just outside Seattle, is the perfect example of that. I had the honor of hiking the Franklin Falls trail with Lauren and Gavin to capture their engagement photos this summer. The couple decided they wanted their engagement session to take place in a stunning outdoor PNW location, and Franklin Falls was the perfect destination.

We made the pleasant hike from the trailhead as the path follows Denny Creek up a gradual climb, winding around rocky outcroppings and between towering evergreens. The coolness of the evening air was so refreshing after a hot summer day! After hiking for a while, we emerged from the lofty spires of whispering evergreens onto a rocky riverbank surrounding the deep pool. The waterfall tumbles from its precipice into a deep, azure pool, throwing off an icy spray and filling the air with the incomparable smell of clean, fresh water. After a tricky scramble across some exposed boulders, we arrived at the base of the waterfall. It was late enough on a warm summer evening that we even had the place to ourselves!

There aren’t words that can accurately convey the majesty and drama of standing next to a thundering waterfall. The falling water creates an incredible roaring sound surrounds you and fills your ears. Cool mist heightened the smell of fir needles, moss, and water. I loved capturing this romantic waterfall engagement session with Lauren & Gavin!
