Hunters' Gate Farm Sequim Wedding Venue Hunters’ Gate Farm is a relatively new venue in the Sequim Dungeness area of the North Olympic Peninsula! An ideal location for an Olympic Peninsula wedding, Hunters’ Gate Farm is perched directly on the bluff overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Originally used for farmland, the spacious acreage boasts panoramic views of the Olympic Mountains to the South and the ocean to the North, with the mountains of Vancouver island in the distance. On a clear day, you can even make out the San Juan Islands to the northeast and the snowy peak of Mt. Baker beyond that.

Hunters’ Gate Farm Ceremony Sites

Besides the breathtaking views, the property has numerous other desirable features for a Sequim Wedding or Elopement. There are almost too many options to choose from for a beautiful ceremony location. The most popular ceremony spot is of course the lawn overlooking the Strait. Alternatively, you can opt for a gorgeous orchard view for your ceremony location. You could also choose to set up a ceremony in the more formal rectangular garden. If you prefer a quiet ceremony without the ocean breezes, there’s a beautiful spot for a ceremony site further away from the bluffs to the west. And if you’re having an intimate wedding or elopement, there’s a spectacular little spot down a little trail perched right along the bluff side itself. If I was planning a small wedding for Hunters’ Gate Farm, this is the location I’d pick for the ceremony!

If you’re planning a large wedding, you’ll want to rent a spacious tent to keep all your guests dry in case of one of our frequent rain showers. Some of the the Olympic Peninsula qualifies as true rainforest based on inches of rain per year. However, Sequim is unique because of the rain shadow effect of the Olympic mountains! There are areas of the Sequim Dungeness River Valley that historically qualify as desert due to lack of rainfall! Although the last hundred or so years, the area has been irrigated for farming, so it doesn’t look like desert nowadays. The Sequim prairie farmland is a lush green year-round, with the grassy fields turning golden late in the summer sun and the dark conifers of the mountainsides remaining evergreen.

But back to the reception — there’s no time of year that can really be completely guaranteed to be rain-free. Thankfully, the rainfall in this specific area is usually light and sporadic, especially in the summer months. But a tent is highly advisable year-round! Next you’ll need to consider tables, chairs, a dance floor, and bathroom facilities. While the North Olympic Peninsula has a few vendors who can supply event rentals, many Kitsap and even Seattle area vendors are more than willing to deliver furniture and other rental items to the Sequim area!

Other Features of Hunters’ Gate Farm

Something I love about Hunters’ Gate Farm are the innumerable trails winding through the bluffside forest. Originally carved by seasonal rains to allow runoff to reach the Straits, these little trails provide a magical experience as you wander through the coastal woodlands. Eagles soar overhead on the ocean air currents and make their nests in the towering firs. While some of the trails remain fairly rugged, the property owners have made extensive improvements to make the trails pleasant to navigate, although you’re best off wearing comfortable shoes while doing so!

The property also includes a well-appointed guest house, a generous garage, and an aviary housing peacocks and chickens! The amiable sounds of the birds provide a subtle, rustic ambiance to the property, occasionally punctuated by the beautiful and haunting calls of the peacocks. If you’re including children at your wedding, they’ll be charmed watching the birds go about their business in the spacious coop.
