For couples looking for a magical, intimate venue to say “I Do,” Saltwater Farm is the perfect space to host a wedding. This property looks out over the Salish Sea. It is just minutes away from Friday Harbor, offering couples a space that echoes a closeness with nature, a welcoming ambiance, and a unique architectural style. 

Saltwater Farm feels like a world of its own, even though it’s close to Friday Harbor. The San Juan Valley, American Camp Trail, and protected port land surround the farm. Sunny meadows, fir forests, fields, and ponds make this space feel intimate and separate from the rest of the world. Miles of nature trails allow guests to explore the grounds and get acquainted with the local plants and animals. From walking trails to star gazing to sipping champagne, there is something every guest can enjoy. 

Multiple ceremony sites and an event barn are available for couples to use for their big day. This property is a beautiful place to celebrate with your closest family and friends. Details of the Grounds


Saltwater Farm’s ceremony space is on a ridge overlooking the mountains and the sea. There are also over 150 acres of beautiful meadows, hills, and overlooks to explore to make your wedding day vision come to life.

The Barn is located right in the middle of the farm’s main meadow, providing a beautiful, intimate space to celebrate with family and friends. This building is 5,000 square feet, is solar-powered, and creates an ambiance of warmth and peacefulness. Wood paneling made from the island’s fir trees casts a warm glow. Moreover, The Barn is fully insulated and temperature-controlled and includes a catering kitchen, bathrooms, and a private wedding suite. Couples can host cocktail hour outside on the patio before directing guests inside for the reception.

Bridal & Groom’s Suites

The wedding suite is available for couples to get ready for the big day or just take a moment to relax and overlook the festivities. The suite is a two-bedroom, one-bathroom residence with a kitchen, loft, and living space that overlooks the event area. This is one space available for the wedding party to get ready. This space includes mirrors, seating, and champagne flutes.

The second wedding party area is called the Shop, a converted barn with a classy, industrial architectural style. The Shop has a bathroom, shower, wood-burning stove, and DIY bar. This is an ideal space for the wedding party to gather and get ready.

Accommodations & Honeymoon Suites

The Homegrown is a tiny home for couples to use for the wedding night or host out-of-town guests. This tiny home is located in the peaceful outer meadow. The fully equipped house includes a kitchen, dinette, queen bed, and bathroom.

The Inn is exclusively available to couples and their guests for weekend weddings. The Inn sits on a ridge overlooking the sea, a perfect gathering place for the couple’s family and friends. This location can be used for the rehearsal dinner featuring a 15-foot live-edge slab table built on-site or a farewell brunch on the deck while overlooking the water. 

Finally, Stag’s Leap is the honeymoon suite in the Inn. Couples can enjoy an ocean view or sip champagne in their private cedar hot tub on the deck. Other rooms available include Sea Breeze, Fox Hollow, Ravenrise, Dragonfly, The Barn Suite, and The Homegrown (tiny home).

Photography Opportunities

There are many unique photo opportunities on this large farm, from sprawling fields to wildflower meadows, tree groves, and waterfront overlooks. Couples can enjoy plenty of natural light in the outdoor spaces or take intimate photos amidst the flowers and trees. Additionally, the warm colors of vibrant wood used for much of the property’s architecture make an excellent backdrop for photos. Couples can pose in front of the many buildings around the property, including The Homegrown.

Wedding Details

Couples who get married at Saltwater Farm can choose from three packages. 

  • An Unforgettable Day (1 day): Services include use of the event barn from 11 AM to 11 PM, the ceremony overlook, the Barn Suite for wedding preparation, The Shop for wedding party preparation, cocktail hour at a choice location, 1-hour rehearsal, 15-25 farm tables, chairs and tables, golf cart, DJ speakers and PA system, speaker and microphone for the ceremony, 200 chairs for the ceremony, 250 chairs for the reception, opportunity to bring in food and alcohol for the reception, professional cleaning, on-site facilities staff, and more. 
  • The Signature Package (3 days): Access to everything in An Unforgettable Day package, with the inclusion of 3 events (arrival evening, wedding day, departure evening), your choice of getting-ready areas, flexible end time for the reception, extra parking, and exclusive booking for guests. 
  • The Everything Package (4 days): Everything in the Signature Package, with the addition of 4 events (arrival evening, rehearsal evening, wedding day, departure morning), three nights of lodging in on-site accommodations, locally-sourced farm-to-table dinner for guests, appetizers and drinks during rehearsal, complimentary late-night reception venue staffing, and professional in-house coordinators for each of the events.
