There really is just something magical about the Pacific Northwest. Every view feels like something new, from the ocean views to the towering trees. With so much magnificent scenery, this area is kind of the perfect spot to get married. It’s a little moody, a little secluded, and incredibly romantic. As a wedding photographer based in this area, I had the opportunity to view many different venues. Still, perhaps some of my favorites are in Port Townsend. The small town is a beautiful escape from busy life. With miles of beaches, delicious foods, and endless activities, it has everything you could possibly want for your wedding. If you’re struggling to figure out where to exchange vows, I would love to give you a rundown of some of my favorite Port Townsend Wedding Venues.
Fort Worden Historical State Park is located in Port Townsend, Washington, on the Key Peninsula, on 433 acres. Originally, Fort Worden was a United States Army Coast Artillery Corps base constructed to protect Puget Sound from invasion by sea. Today, the land is used as a State Park. Miles of trails are accessible to the public for hiking and relaxing, while the old concrete bunkers can be explored by those who are brave enough!
What makes this state park ideal for weddings are the vintage officer’s houses and chapel as well as the conference center that can be used to host events, lodging, getting-ready areas, and wedding ceremonies. There are ample accommodations on-site, so your guests are able to stay at the same location, as well as numerous hotels, AirBnBs, and even RV and tent camping available in the Port Townsend area. The venue offers in-house catering, a spacious reception pavilion, and numerous ceremony options including the chapel and several outdoor ceremony sites. There are so many options for spectacular wedding day portraits!
With a property that boasts 27 historic buildings and offers capacity for events ranging in size from 10 to 15,000 guests, Fort Worden offers the best opportunity for planners to host a memorable and successful event on the Olympic Peninsula. The friendly & experienced Events team work hard to ensure a smooth & seamless planning process from start to finish.
Raincoast Farms is one of my absolute favorite places for rustic weddings. The venue is available for use every season and allows your guests to be one with nature. The venue is an actual working farm settled on 17 acres. With so much land, you will have a variety of breathtaking wedding sites. Whether you love gardens or prefer the feel of a wooden barn, this venue has everything. The site can accommodate anywhere from 80 to 120 guests. While you can hire your own caterer, the working farm allows your chefs to use produce grown right on the site. With this unique venue, I guarantee your wedding will be unforgettable.
If you’re the kind of couple that just can’t get enough of the ocean life, you will fall in love with the Northwest Maritime Center. This magnificent waterfront venue has indoor and outdoor wedding spaces, allowing you to plan a day that’s right for you. When you choose to host your wedding at the center, you’ll have accommodations for up to 200 guests. Whether you want an intimate wedding or a huge party, Northwest Maritime Center will have the perfect space for you. The center is settled in downtown Port Townsend. It is within walking distance of several hotels, giving your out-of-town guests comfortable lodging. Additionally, you’ll have prime views of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains. Giving you an exquisite backdrop for your pictures.
Misty Clover Farm is a secluded 54-acre Port Townsend permaculture farm that offers you plenty of incredible wedding venues. The venue has options that will accommodate up to 250 guests. The best wedding site is the Moon Amphitheater, which provides seating for up to 100 guests. This area sits right in front of the forest and gives you the most magnificent, moody backdrop for your vows. You’ll stand on a stage with your beloved during your actual ceremony while your guests look on from wooden benches.
You’ll also have plenty of lighting as well as a complete audio booth and speaker setup. So no one misses a word of the ceremony. For the reception, you have the ability to set up an event tent and use the BBQ grill and prep tables. The site has built-in buffet tables as well as a 20-foot cedar table that can be used as you see fit. You can bring in the caterer of your choice to provide the food you crave.
Vineyards are some of my favorite wedding venues. Not only do you get delicious food and fantastic drinks, but you also get the lush views of the vineyard. Marrowstone Vineyard is no exception. This breathtaking property is terrific for intimate outdoor weddings. The ceremony site overlooks the maintained vineyards and the blue water. Inside the wooden barn, there’s plenty of seating beneath Edison bulbs for your party. Those wanting a larger wedding will adore the outside space that provides plenty of room for drinks and dancing. You’ll have all the elegance of the winery combined with the charm of the surrounding woods. If you ask me, it’s the perfect pairing.
While the Inn at Port Ludlow is about 20 minutes to the south, Port Townsend is the largest town in the immediate vicinity. Port Ludlow is a tiny community on the shore of the Hood Canal just north of the Hood Canal Bridge.
Located less than two hours from Seattle on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula, The Resort At Port Ludlow is the ideal setting for an intimate destination wedding. Situated on serene Ludlow Bay, The Resort showcases the Pacific Northwest at its best, offering breathtaking water and mountain views, magical settings, award-winning dining, comfortable guest rooms, championship golf course, scenic marina, and professional staff offering personalized planning and service. You can exchange your vows in the Sun Room, aptly named as sun flows into this room from the full wall of windows.
Your guests will have a perfect view of the Totem Pole located at Burner Point, the front lawn, the Olympic Mountains and the boats sailing past on their way to the Port Ludlow Marina. They may even get a glimpse of one of the many seaplanes landing in the harbor and cruising to dock at our marina. The option of an outdoor ceremony is also available. With the backdrop of the snowcapped Cascades, soaring trees, and sweeping water views The Resort At Port Ludlow is a true Washington destination wedding location. Some of the favorite ceremony sites include Burner Point lawn, Harbormaster lawn, and the Port Ludlow Golf Club. For an equally breathtaking reception, host your guests in the Marina Room. This room provides a separate area for smaller groups to dine away from the larger room and has convenient access to the outside veranda for casual, pre-meal gatherings.
If you’re considering throwing your wedding in Port Townsend, I know you will love these spaces. Whether you want an intimate indoor ceremony or an outdoor celebration, these Port Townsend Wedding Venues have exactly what you’re looking for.
