Olympic Peninsula Wedding in Olympic National Park

Weddings on the Olympic Peninsula are like nothing you’ll experience anywhere else. This remote corner of Northwest Washington State is often overlooked in favor of more easily accessible Washington State attractions like Mount Rainier & Seattle. But no trip to Washington is complete without a visit to the Olympic Peninsula, and for couples in search of a unique and unforgettable wedding locale it’s worth considering! The Olympic Peninsula seems to attract a certain kind of kindred spirit—couples who care deeply about the environment, community, and conscious stewardship of the natural world in which we live.

And I couldn’t be more grateful to have had the chance to work with couples like Lisel and Sam! Their love of the outdoors and the Olympic Peninsula in particular came through in every choice they made for their wedding day. From Lisel’s second-hand Rue de Seine gown to the seed-packet favors, every decision reflected their mutual esteem for the natural world. Lisel’s colorful bouquet came from Around the Table Farm in Poulsbo and incorporated amaranth and cheerful dahlias. The couple said their vows under a magnificent pair of broadleaf maples that sheltered them and their guests from the light fall mist. After the ceremony, guests moved inside the cozy lodge for a salmon dinner, dancing, and homemade cocktails and pie!

Lisel and Sam’s NatureBridge wedding was a celebration of their values and community!

From the Bride: “Sam and I met through a mutual friend who introduced us after she noted that we had both hiked the Hoh River Trail on the Olympic Peninsula within a week of each other. She set us up on a blind date, Sam and I met on Pike Street for brews, and I was immediately taken by Sam’s charisma, his ability to have an engaged conversation on any subject and the way he smiles from the corners of his eyes. I felt like I had known his soul for a lifetime, and 6 dates later we were plotting and planning our first big trip together. Last February, Sam joined me on a trip to South Africa and proposed while we were visiting Kruger National Park (lions and elephants and proposal, oh my). I hadn’t been expecting it, but was overjoyed and immediately said yes! Our love of mountains is what initially brought us together, so we wanted to acknowledge that by picking NatureBridge as our wedding venue.
”

What are some of your favorite memories from the wedding day?

“Our wedding was at Nature Bridge on Sept 14. It was a magical day to share with our friends and family, I will always remember the spirited energy and the palpable feeling of love being in the air. I would say the theme was a mix of boho and rustic Summer camp. The natural setting reminded me of a Wes Anderson movie. Our wedding colors were teal and a spray of wildflowers in sunset colors. I didn’t have traditional bridesmaids, but loved the rainbow effect with some of my nearest and dearest friends. We used rosemary in the boutonnieres and the table linens as a nod to the Rosemary Lodge, I loved walking into the lodge and smelling the fragrance. Our friends and family were instrumental to making sure the day went off without any unintended hitches. It truly takes a village to have a wedding!

“I love that my dad built the arbor for our ceremony, I can’t wait to put it up in our front yard and my mom made some incredible pies. My brother Brian made the “Please Be Seeded” sign and my friend Samantha made black forest cherry cupcakes. Sam’s mom Naomi and sisters Lindsey and Lisa were incredibly helpful with preparing the table settings and Andrew, Karyn and Jef made some VERY stiff drinks for our reception. Our officiant Paul gave a beautiful gardening anecdote that tied into our nature-themed wedding… Looking back, I am so moved by how our friends and family showed up for us to make our day truly unforgettable. A special tradition for me was honoring our grandmas at the pie bar, and having our niece and nephews be part of our ceremony.”
