Cassi & David’s Surprise Proposal at Gasworks Park

On a perfect golden evening, David took his girlfriend Cassi out for a date and walk in one of their favorite Seattle locations, the waterfront at Gasworks Park. David had been planning a surprise proposal for a few weeks, but he wanted to keep Cassi guessing. They had spent the day together, and of course the topic of their relationship had come up several times. They had even gone ring shopping earlier that afternoon, although they didn’t end up buying anything, to Cassi’s dismay. Unbeknownst to her, David had a gorgeous ring in his pocket the entire time!

When they arrived at Gasworks, the last thing Cassi was expecting was a proposal. I had been going to great lengths to stay out of sight and still keep my eye on the couple as they made laps around the park. I knew at any minute David was going to pop the question! It was a busy evening and the park was full of families and kids out enjoying the warm spring weather. From behind a tall fence, I watched Cassi and David walk into the park and down the gravel trail towards the water. They made a few laps around the trails, taking in the views of Lake Union. A group of people walked in front of me, and as I dodged and maneuvered to get around them, I saw David and Cassi approaching the waterfront overlook. And then, just as Cassi was least expecting it, David dropped to one knee and proposed—I was just in time to catch Cassi’s look of sheer astonishment!

After a few minutes, David pointed me out to Cassi and I ran over to them to say hello. Cassi’s best friend Kristina had flown out from Boston and she and Cassi had a sweet, congratulatory hug. The gorgeous golden light allowed for a few more happy photos of the new fiancées before we left the park. Congrats David and Cassi!
