After their scenic portrait session at Lake Crescent, Rebecca and Chris traveled back to a private family property in Sequim for their charming backyard ceremony and reception. The word “backyard” doesn’t quite do the setting justice! Not many backyards feature a grove of huge arching maple trees and a stunning view of the Olympic Mountains, so this spot made a pretty gorgeous setting for a wedding. The late afternoon light was indescribably beautiful; during fall in the Pacific Northwest, it seems like golden hour lasts forever on sunny days! Rebecca walked down a petal-strewn aisle lined with candles to join Chris in front of a ceremony backdrop created from vintage doors. Together they lit a unity lantern—what a clever way to shield the flame from the breeze! Their attendants wore gowns and dress shirts in the most beautiful shades of magenta and maroon. And just wait until you see the most darling flower girls in their billowy little white dresses!
After their first kiss and a joyful exit from the ceremony, we were able to gather Rebecca and Chris’ large family for a few relaxed group portraits. I had to sneak in a couple more portraits of the bride and groom in that gorgeous evening autumn light!
The guests dined at long banquet tables under a cheerful white tent. Rebecca’s sister and Maid of Honor had worked absolute magic with the decor, creating a glamorous scene with glittering golden candelabras, gold chargers, white hydrangeas and crimson carnations. The deep purple and vermilion shades were a perfect complement to the rich colors of fall. I love seeing so much color used in wedding decor! As twilight fell over the glowing tent, Chris and Rebecca’s guests participated in a sparkler send-off for the bride and groom, who departed the wedding in a vintage fire truck!
Rebecca and Chris—a million thank-you’s for inviting me to share in your wedding celebration!
