Romantic Destination NatureBridge Wedding in Washington State

I’m rarely more excited than when I have the chance to photograph a NatureBridge wedding on Lake Crescent. Being a NatureBridge wedding photographer is an incredible experience. Couples and grooms travel from around the world to have romantic, destination-style weddings in the emerald forests of Olympic National Park. NatureBridge is the perfect wedding venue.

A Special NatureBridge Wedding Day

As you drive westwards on the narrow, twisting highway outside of Port Angeles Washington, the road crosses the Elwha river and skirts the shore of Lake Sutherland. Then suddenly it plunges into the deep conifer forests of Olympic National Park. You’ll know you’ve arrived at Lake Crescent when the twinkling sapphire waters begin to peek between the evergreen tree trunks. Soon, the wilderness along the highway opens to a sweeping view of the lake. Meanwhile, the road winds around the emerald mountainsides. Much of the roadway was blasted into the mountain to create just enough space for cars to travel. So the mountainside rises sharply up into a steep, fern-encrusted ridge to the south while the glittering blue water of the Lake sparkles just inches from the highway on the north side of the road.

Not quite halfway around the lake you’ll see signs for Storm King Ranger Station and Lake Crescent Lodge. Here, you’ll turn off the highway and drive down a quiet, secluded drive to NatureBridge itself. Which is located on the north side of Barnes Point. Presiding over the property is the historic Rosemary Cottage. A quaint lodge where Teddy Roosevelt stayed during his landmark visit in 1900!

I LOVE The NatureBridge!

It’s no secret how much I love photographing weddings at NatureBridge in Olympic National Park. In my humble opinion, NatureBridge might be the best place to have a wedding with a big guestlist on the Olympic Peninsula. The venue offers incredible catering, and lodging for you and your guests in the most adorable historic cabins. Above all, the views of Lake Crescent are phenomenal. However, even if you’re keeping your guest list small, it’s still an incredible, secluded venue that makes you feel a thousand miles away from civilization.

If you love the Olympic Peninsula in general, and the Lake Crescent area in specific, then you’ll fall in love with NatureBridge immediately. Of the dozen weddings I’ve photographed there, every single one has felt like grown-up summer camp. From canoeing on the Lake and hiking in the forests to getting ready with your attendants in the quaint cottages and dining on an incredible salmon and wild rice dinner in the atmostpheric lodge, weddings at NatureBridge are a step into a world where time moves slower under the rustling branches of cedar, fir, and moss-encrusted maples.
