Hey there! Welcome to my blog—Make yourself comfy and look around! As an Olympic Peninsula, Olympic National Park, San Juan Islands, Seattle, Whidbey Island, and destination wedding photographer, I want to be a resource for you as you put together your own wedding day. Browse around, have a look, and let me know your questions! I'm so happy you're here, and I hope you want to get in touch so we can chat about your wedding day.
On a golden late-spring day at Lake Crescent Lodge, we created a romantic tableau featuring mixed metallics and subtle florals to complement the historic setting in Washington State’s Olympic National Park. It almost goes without saying that Lake Crescent is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I grew up going to “the Lake” for swimming days during the summer, hiking and camping, and it’s part of my landscape of memory as far back as I can remember. Lake Crescent is an unusually deep, sapphire blue lake nestled in the Olympic Mountains west of Port Angeles, Washington. Being so deep and cold, it’s color is startlingly blue due to lack of the nitrogen that would usually support the growth of algae.
If you’ve ever been to a wedding at Lake Crescent, you know that it feels like stepping out of time into a parallel reality where the most urgent thing on the agenda is what time of day you should take a canoe out on the water. Cabins dot the lakeshore, much of which is now protected by Olympic National Park, though enough residents and vacationers remain to foster a sense of lakeside community. The waves are usually ruffled by a breath of evergreen-scented air, and the sunlight dances across the azure waters like laughter.
Art Nouveau and the history of the region were the inspiration behind this wedding editorial at Lake Crescent Lodge, which itself dates to 1914 and was visited by Theodore Roosevelt during his tour of the Pacific Northwest. We wanted to showcase the best local vendors of the North Olympic Peninsula against the stunning backdrop of the Pacific Northwest evergreen forests and sapphire glacial lake. The Lodge sits on a small promontory in Lake Crescent called Barnes Point, enjoying western exposure and the shelter of tall conifers. The incredible blue-green colors of the glacial lake water inspired the color palette off aquamarine and dusty greens, set off by a hint of rose and ivory. Lake Crescent Lodge is an historical property that hosts weddings and travelers throughout the summer months, and it was the loveliest backdrop for an Art Nouveau inspired wedding day. I loved being able to showcase the incredible work of all the vendors involved!
Gold and copper accents paired beautifully with the soft greens of eucalyptus and mint, enhancing the natural textures of burlap, linen, and foliage. Candlelight, simple florals, and metallics served to elevate the rustic, timeless glamour of the historic venue. The emphasis was firmly on local vendors contributing the best of our work available on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula.
Our vision came to life through the beautiful styling by Rae Anne from Fancy That Party, thoughtful coordination from Breva of Love Note Services, impeccable skill of Bernadette from Beautiful You Makeup Artistry, elegant hairstyling from Monica Salazar, stunning gown and dapper menswear from Black Diamond Bridal, seasonal floral bouquet and boutonniere from Angel Crest Gardens, lovely cake from Raindrop Desserts, charming invitation suite from Dear Emma Stationary, classic jewelry from both Black Diamond Bridal and Solar City Boutique, and endless patience and sweetness from our gracious models Kayla and Kelly Gould! Gabe and Chloe from Bello Pictures were a delightful presence during the shoot, and their work is a wonderful complement to the photography! Charlea from Aramark/Olympic National Park was invaluable in allowing us to use the property at Lake Crescent Lodge, and Michael the General Manager at the Lodge was incredibly helpful as well.
We hope you enjoy the beautiful setting of Lake Crescent, the historic Lodge, and the beautiful work from talented, passionate Olympic Peninsula wedding vendors!
