The Rosario Resort wedding venue is a picturesque, historic destination wedding venue on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands of Northwest Washington State. 80 miles northwest of Seattle, Washington, and 95 miles southwest of Vancouver, British Columbia, the resort is located on a secluded cove on the eastern shore of the aptly-named East Sound. Rosario has been hosting visitors since
Orcas Island, part of the San Juan Islands in the Salish Sea northwest of Seattle, Washington State, is an unparalleled Pacific Northwest destination for a spectacular wedding or elopement. Surrounded by brilliant sapphire waters of Puget Sound and the Salish Sea, the San Juan Islands are a rocky archipelago crowned by emerald conifer forests of Western Hemlock, Douglas Fir, and Western Red Cedar. The San Juan Islands lie in the rainshadow of the Olympic Mountains to the southwest, lending the San Juans a somewhat drier climate than the surrounding area. Rosario resort itself is situated on Cascade Bay, a few minutes drive from the village of Eastsound.
There are numerous ways to travel to Orcas island. The Washington State car and passenger ferry sails from the city of Anacortes, WA, north of Seattle, to the ferry dock at Orcas Island. You can also travel by plane, seaplane, or private boat. The resort has a small, full-service marina with slips available for boats up to 130 feet in length. You can also take an airplane from Boeing Field in Seattle to Orcas Island; airports in Bellingham and Anacortes also offer flights to Orcas and San Juan Islands or take a seaplane from Lake Union in Seattle.
However you get to Orcas Island, the journey is unspeakably gorgeous. Once on the island, you can explore the quaint towns of Eastsound, Olga, Doe Bay, and Deer Harbor. Kayaks, bikes, and power or sailboats are all available to rent on the island. Whale and wildlife tours are a classic way to enjoy the scenery of the San Juan Islands. Swimming and paddleboarding are fantastic ways to enjoy the picturesque waters in the summer. There are miles of trails to hike: Mt. Constitution in Moran State Park, Turtleback Mountain, and Obstruction Pass State Park are just a few of the options!
The Rosario Resort wedding venue offers several options for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies of up to 350 people. The historic Moran Mansion and lovely waterfront grounds provide a stunning backdrop for either an outdoor wedding overlooking Cascade Bay or a cozy indoor ceremony. The beautiful art-deco Music Room in the turn-of-the-century mansion features stained glass windows, a fireplace, rich mahogany, a Tiffany chandelier, and even a pipe organ. Outdoors, the Rosario Beach House Lawn provides jaw-dropping views of the water and forested islands in the distance.
There are so many options for stunning wedding-day portraits! The resort’s grounds provide stunning island views, beautiful seaside meadows, and tranquil island forests. Just minutes down the road, the views from Mt. Constitution in Moran State Park are some of the most epic in all of the San Juan Islands; Mt. Constitution is the highest point in the San Juans! The forests and trails of Moran State Park are incredibly lovely for forest photos. Whether you opt to stay on-site for wedding day portraits or get adventurous and travel around the island, you’re guaranteed gorgeous scenery for your photos!
