Hey there! Welcome to my blog—Make yourself comfy and look around! As an Olympic Peninsula, Olympic National Park, San Juan Islands, Seattle, Whidbey Island, and destination wedding photographer, I want to be a resource for you as you put together your own wedding day. Browse around, have a look, and let me know your questions! I'm so happy you're here, and I hope you want to get in touch so we can chat about your wedding day.
welcome to my
little corner of the interwebs.
As an Olympic Peninsula Photographer, I’m always excited to shoot at a brand-new venue! While the scenic beauty of the Olympic Peninsula is unparalleled, it can be challenging to find a venue that will accommodate a large wedding. Hunters’ Gate Farm, just west of Sequim on the bluffs overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, is an incredible new Sequim Wedding Venue! As described by the venue coordinator, Hunter’s Gate is a DIY-style wedding venue that allows each couple to select their own vendors including catering, rentals, bartending, DJ, coordinator, and (most importantly imho ;), a great photographer.
From the Bride –
“Dave and I met in college at the University of Denver our Sophomore year. We shared a class together winter quarter, where I seemed to know all the people sitting in the group but him. We got to know each other over the quarter, started dating and the rest is history! We moved from Denver to Los Angeles for work almost 4 years ago and last June, Dave popped the question!”
A Sequim Wedding at Hunters’ Gate Farm
The bride and groom chose to have a destination wedding on the Olympic Peninsula, a place that’s special to Malaika and her family. Interestingly, Malaika and I have a lot of friends and acquaintances in common, although we had never met before! I was thrilled to get the chance to work with such a great couple for my first wedding at this gorgeous new Sequim wedding venue.
Malaika, Dave, and their bridesmaids and groomsmen were such a fun group to spend the day with. We started the day in the main house at Hunter’s Gate Farm where there is a gorgeous bridal suite for getting ready. It makes such a huge difference to have a bright, clean, minimally decorated room for the bride to get ready in. Great light and white or light-colored walls look so chic as a stylish and minimal backdrop to the getting ready photos.
Dave and his groomsmen got readyin another cottage on the property. The property also serves as a popular vacation rental, so there are ample guest rooms available for wedding guests and as accommodations year-round. The owner does a beautiful job maintaining a gorgeous landscape and comfortable lodging from which to explore the North Olympic Peninsula! As a wedding venue, Hunter’s Gate Farm is a spectacular backdrop for an Olympic Peninsula wedding. From meadow and mountain views to the south to the gorgeous bluffs overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, I could happily photograph a few dozen weddings here before I ran out of options and ideas for portrait locations. We were even able to get access to the private beach trail for a sunset photo session with just me and Malaika and Dave at the end of the day. Watching the sun sink below the horizon over the roaring waves on the Olympic Peninsula coastline is an incredible, awe-inspiring experience.
After sunset portraits, we climbed back up the trail for more party dancing to great live music provided by the Blue Wave Band. There’s nothing like live music to get people out on the dance floor! Finally, Chloe Mosey Events orchestrated a glowstick sendoff for the new couple before they took off in asportscar at the end of the night!
