Amazing Venues for a Washington State Forest Wedding

Washington State Forest Wedding Venues

Are you envisioning an enchanted woodland wedding ceremony at a forest wedding venue in Washington State under a canopy of evergreen trees? There’s no better state to have a forest wedding than Washington. It’s called the Evergreen State for a reason — from the mossy rainforests of Olympic National Park and the Olympic Peninsula to the homestead farms and ranches of Snohomish, Whatcom, and Skagit counties, to the jaw-dropping peaks of North Cascade National Park, to the dry pine woodlands of the Methow Valley, Spokane, and Eastern Washington, you can have a forest wedding in almost any part of the state!

There are numerous venues that will help you create your PNW fairytale forest dream — here are my top picks!

Olympic Peninsula Forest Wedding Venues

There’s nothing to compare to the misty, evergreen scented air underneath the towering oldgrowth forests of Olympic National Park. One of the lesser-known national parks, Olympic doesn’t get quite as much traffic as Yosemite or Yellowstone, but it’s no less spectacular. Olympic National Park is especially varied, from rugged ocean beaches to sparse alpine meadows to those incredible old-growth Red Cedars and Douglas Firs — you’ll only find bigger trees in Redwoods and Sequoia National Parks! But don’t worry, our Olympic National Park and National Forest specimens are equally impressive.

If you want to have a forest wedding on the Olympic Peninsula, here are the venues you want to know about:

Lake Crescent Lodge‎, & NatureBridge at Olympic, Lake Crescent, Olympic Peninsula

Nestled along the shore of Lake Crescent on the remote Olympic Peninsula, these two venues allow an unparalleled destination wedding experience in Washington State’s Olympic National Park. Wander down trails through old-growth forest with mossy branches arching overhead, paddle a canoe or kayak on the sapphire waters of the lake, or make the ambitious climb for panoramic views up Mount Storm King. Your wedding ceremony will take place on the shore of the lake with sound of the gentle waves in the background.

Lake Quinault Lodge, Amanda Park, Olympic Peninsula

Another historic national park lodge, Lake Quinault Lodge is possibly the most remote location in western Washington State that can also accommodate a hundred or so guests in comfort. The lodge allows for wedding ceremonies to take place either outdoors on the expansive lawn, or inside in front of the cozy fireplace. Alternatively, you can have your ceremony on the beach about 30 minutes away or even an accommodating trailhead and then relocate to the lodge for cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing when the night turns cool.

Fern Acres, Forks, Olympic Peninsula

Fort Townsend Friend’s Barn, Port Townsend, WA

Fort Worden State Park, Chapel & Commons, Port Townsend WA

Kitsap Peninsula, Bainbridge Island,  & Hood Canal Forest Wedding Venues

Kiana Lodge, Poulsbo, Kitsap Peninsula

Kitsap Memorial State Park, Poulsbo, Kitsap Peninsula

Kitsap Memorial State Park is one of the quintessential forest wedding venues in Washington State. Most of the park consists of towering evergreens, with a large meadow and access to the beachfront on the Hood Canal. The wooded outdoor ceremony site provides the most picturesque backdrop for an iconic forest wedding ceremony.

Wedding Ceremony at Kitsap Memorial State Park

Heronswood Gardens, Kingston, Kitsap Peninsula

Have your wedding in a gorgeous formal garden surrounded by towering conifers. Heronswood combines the rustic forests of the pacific Northwest with a refined garden atmosphere. Heronswood is just a 25-minute scenic ferry ride away from downtown Edmonds, but still remote enough to provide your guests an ample glimpse of life in the PNW.

Torpedo Warehouse at the Manchester State Park, Port Orchard, WA

Don’t be fooled by the name! Although it may have been used to house torpedos as part of Puget Sound naval defenses, the 1901 brick Torpedo Warehouse at Manchester State Park is a gorgeous historic building that could provide a spectacular ceremony or reception venue with elegant architecture and style. With its stone fireplace, weathered beamed ceiling and windowless arches, the Torpedo Warehouse would provide an ideal backdrop for a couple who wanted to infuse a sense of history and refinement into their wedding against a forested backdrop of maple and Douglas-fir.

Alderbrook Resort & Spa, Union, WA

Alderbrook Resort  has the advantage of also being a waterfront wedding venue! Surrounded by the forests on three sides and open to the Hood Canal on the fourth, Alderbrook Resort is a spectacular venue that offers indoor and outdoor ceremony and reception options.

Kitsap Forest Theater, Kitsap Peninsula, WA

Cedar Springs, Port Orchard, WA

Island Wood, Bainbridge, Wa

Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom, & Island County Forest Wedding Venues

Maroni Meadows,  Snohomish, WA

Closer to the amenities of Seattle and SeaTac airport, Maroni Meadows still affords a remote, forest getaway feeling. The ceremony and reception sites are surrounded by towering deciduous trees, and the lush landscaping includes hardy tropicals like banana and philodendron!

Bella Luna Farms, Snohomish, WA

Cama Beach, Camano Island, WA

Pine Creek Nursery, Monroe, WA

Twin Willows Gardens, Snohomish, WA

Winding Paths Garden, Arlington, WA

River’s Edge Weddings, Granite Falls, WA

Seattle/Eastside & King County Forest Wedding Venues

If it’s more convenient for you to stay closer to the I-5 Corridor and the Seattle area, there are still a myriad of forest wedding venues throughout the more densely populated parts of Western Washington. Don’t let an hour or so drive outside the city scare you away! These venues are closer to Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue, and Issaquah, yet they still allow for a feeling of escape to the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest.

Eastern Washington Forests are distinctly different from Western Washington. As soon as you cross the Cascade Mountains, the forests change from dense, wet Douglas Fir, Hemlock, and RedCedar to a sparser open pine

Suncadia Resort and Spa, Suncadia, WA

As you turn off the highway near Cle Elum, Washington, the narrow road winds through an open pine forest that seems to stretch into infinity. Unexpectedly, the chateaus and cabins of Suncadia Resort materialize from in between the tree trunks, culminating in the spectacular Suncadia Lodge perched on the edge of the Columbia River Gorge. Suncadia is a spectacular location for a forest wedding, providing the remote feeling of a mountain lodge with high-end amenities, accommodations, and catering.
