If you’re looking for a spectacular waterfront island wedding in the San Juans, you’ve found it! Jenna and Henry celebrated their wedding day on a glorious late summer/early fall day on Henry’s family property in Eagle Cove. Just outside American Camp State Park on the southern coast of San Juan island, the wedding ceremony took place on a bluff overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, with a panoramic view of the Olympic mountains spread out across the horizon.
Although the calendar told us the year was approaching fall, the weather hadn’t gotten the memo. The sunshine was bright and warm as Jenna and Henry got ready in separate rooms at Henry’s family’s architectural island home. They started their wedding day together, with a first look in the shade of some coastal evergreens at the edge of a sun-gold grassy meadow. I love starting a wedding day with a first look as it gives the couple a few moments to soak in all the feels of the day in privacy, before they say their vows in front of friends and family.
The ceremony overlooked a jaw-dropping water view, but all eyes were on Jenna and Henry as they laughed their way through their vows and kissed in front of a beautiful driftwood arbor. A mix of both men and women on each side comprised the bridal party, reflecting the closest friendships in each of the couples lives’ regardless of gender. There was even a brides-dog!
As for the relaxed, tented reception on the lawn overlooking the Salish Sea, I can only describe it as both incredibly chic and deeply meaningful! The couple and their guests danced to classic jazz tunes as the sun set over the water. Just before twilight, we snuck away for some insanely spectacular golden-hour portraits on the rocky bluffs above Eagle Cove. Don’t miss those photos at the end of this post!
