Colorful Hall at Fauntleroy Wedding | Stephanie & Theo | Ceremony & Reception

Last week I blogged the first part of Stephanie & Theo’s colorful Hall at Fauntleroy wedding in West Seattle. Now here’s the second portion, including the ceremony, reception, a boatload of colorful details, even more balloons, some epic dancing, and more light and color and joy than you can believe.

Stephanie used the theme of “Kate Spade Rides the New York Subway” to tie all her signage, details, and decor together for the ceremony and reception at the Hall at Fauntleroy. For the garden ceremony, stylish wooden chairs were arranged on the secluded lawn and an arbor festooned with a rainbow of balloons provided a festive focal point.

The sweet and emotional ceremony was conducted by a dear friend and filled with happy tears and laughter; the ceremony perfectly reflected the couple’s journey together in becoming a couple as well as celebrating their families and loved ones. Stephanie’s sweet mama walked her down the aisle to meet Theo. The tulle train to Stephanie’s stunning Anomalie gown nearly stole the show! After affectionate hugs from the mother of the bride and parents of the groom, the ceremony continued with a thoughtful and personal tribute to the growth of the couple’s relationship. Together with their officiant, Stephanie and Theo used their ceremony as an opportunity to commemorate and honor their story, their loved ones, and the values they hold together for the future. After a tea ceremony in which the bride and groom combined two blends of tea into a single jar, each representing their individuality, the couple joyfully kissed and were introduced as the new Mr. & Mrs.

The bride and groom’s love of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series was commemorated in photos of the bridal party with the full series of books featuring colorful cover illustrations. Many of the guests dressed to complement the colorful theme of the day! It was so much fun to capture a kaleidoscope of festively dressed guests during the cocktail hour in the courtyard. The reception was full of graphic detail and color, in keeping with the rest of the day. A dessert table featuring macarons made by the bride’s mother and a sweet cutting cake decorated with colorful flowers, a cozy seating arrangement of vintage lounge furniture provided by Vintage Ambience, and a photobooth by Drunken Pixel that was overflowing with props rounded out the reception decor. And the food! Catered by Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes, just thinking about the authentic Asian cuisine makes my tastebuds water! The whole day went smoothly without a hiccup in the timeline thanks to the brilliant organization and planning of Natalie from Ginger Bee Events.

On top of all this color, Stephanie and Theo had the most adoring, committed group of friends and family I think I’ve ever seen. After an epic choreographed entrance dance, the toasts for the bride and groom were so storied, heartfelt, and so full of affection I found myself tearing up behind my viewfinder. After the toasts and some very energetic dancing, a french fry bar closed out the night for anyone who still had an appetite! The soundtrack for all the enthusiastic dancing was provided by Magnolia Rhapsody

It’s no stretch to say this was the most colorful, and one of the most thoughtful and detailed weddings I’ve ever photographed! I loved being able to capture and commemorate all of Stephanie and Theo’s thoughtful details and decor. What made this wedding incredibly special in my mind was how the bride and groom incorporated their families, their histories and traditions, their personal taste and interests, and the relationships that are precious to them into the celebration. A wedding is a reflection of the couple and their style, but also of the community and family they gather around them. The color and style last for a day, the photos for a lot longer, but the relationships are what shape our futures. Stephanie and Theo, a million thank you’s for choosing me to document your wedding day! I’ll never forget the riot of color and light and laughter and love!
